"Do You Love Me" by Cam Schuessler
Artist Statement: As an artist, I strive to create works that are not only bold and intriguing but also peaceful and thought-provoking. My art seeks to explore the complex relationship between childhood innocence and adult maturity, and how these two seemingly opposite aspects of the human experience can be found in our understanding of God.
Blending child-like elements such as bright colors, messy shapes, and haphazard strokes with more refined concepts and clean lines, these elements together represent the idea that God wants us to approach him with both child-like wonder and adult understanding. My hope is that through my works, viewers can catch a glimpse of the interwoven and immersive relationship with God that we were created to have--one that challenges us to fully embrace both our child-like and adult-like qualities in a joining together of trust and growth.
